MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR (MBTI)®

MBTI® is a personality test designed to assist a person in identifying some significant personal preferences based on work that originated with Carl Jung.  Millions of individuals have taken the MBTI® instrument, and today it is the most widely used psychological assessment tool for both individuals and groups.  By using this instrument, people become more self-aware of their preferences for gaining energy, gathering information, making decisions, and approaching life.

The best part of this tool is how much it “explains” of our own behavior and that of others.  During one training session with a senior team, two executives, whose behaviors frequently frustrated one another, both recognized that those behaviors came from Type.  Key for each of them was the recognition that the behavior that annoyed them about the other was not intentional, nor designed to annoy.  At one point during the training, when they were supposed to be working together on something else, they used the time to talk about the differences and to build a plan to work together more effectively.
